How does auto-detection work?

On the first inbound message, we run language detection on the message text and the browser locale. Confidence > 0.85 = lock to that language for the session. Below 0.85 we keep the conversation in English but watch for code-switching.

Do I need to translate my catalog?

No. The agent answers in the shopper's language using the source-language catalog. Product names, prices, and variants stay in their original language unless you've localised them in Shopify Markets or WooCommerce.

What about brand voice across languages?

Voice presets translate intent, not literal text. "Premium" sounds premium in Japanese and in Portuguese — that's the point. You can override per-locale if you need a different register in a specific market.

How is right-to-left handled?

Arabic and Hebrew render right-to-left in the widget natively. The dashboard preview matches the shopper experience so reviewers see the real thing.

Does multilingual cost extra?

Multilingual is included on all plans. Some plans cap monthly conversations — multilingual conversations count the same as English.

Can a human agent take over a non-English conversation?

Yes. The conversation hands off to your team in the shared inbox with the full transcript — already in the shopper's language — so a teammate who speaks it can step straight in. The AI keeps replying in-language until a human takes the thread.
